Up Close

For this event, the people who’ve shaped this collection stood in the same light as the work itself. We built gallery walls from scratch, scalloped arches in blush and coral, plywood panels catching the last of the evening sun,  and filled every gap between paintings with dahlias, amaranth, and queen anne’s lace. Up Close was a reveal celebration of the new collection and the official launch of Shannon Rae Art-  full of movement and texture, meant to be experienced exactly how the title suggests, close enough to see every layer (monocle optional, though one guest disagreed). It wasn’t about selling, though a few pieces did find new homes-  it was about celebration: of the work, of a business becoming real, and of the people who’ve spent years cheering me on from the sidelines.
